Chocolate-Peanut Butter-Oatmal Rounds

Do you know the biggest problem with blogging? It's that we only ever see what the blogger wants us to see. I have to remind myself of that every day when I look at other peoples blogs and see seemingly perfect house after perfect house. And it can be a little depressing. Or maybe it's just me? The truth is even I can make my house look better than it actually is in a photograph.

For example this is my kitchen: See how nice and neat and clean it is with my rack of cookies cooling on the counter? Isn't that nice?

The truth is my kitchen looked like this only minutes before:

Of course that's not exactly the kind of picture we generally use on blogs. But it's the truth. See my cookies cooling on counter? hint: they are on the far left. Doesn't make as pretty of a picture now does it?

I guess what I'm trying to say is that pictures can be deceiving. Blogs can be deceiving. And it's important not to get down by what you see in someone else's photographed life. Remember that. I'm guessing things probably aren't near as perfect as they seem to be.

And if you do happen to get a little depressed as I sometimes do what better way to make you feel better than chocolate and peanut butter all mixed together in a delicious cookie!

Chocolate-Peanut Butter-Oatmeal Rounds

3/4 C. butter flavored Crisco (or butter, softened)
1/2 C. peanut butter
1 C. granulated sugar
1/2 C. packed brown sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 C. all-purpose flour
2 C. rolled oats
1 C. semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375*

Beat together butter and peanut butter until combined. Add sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Beat until combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour. Mix in oats and chocolate chips.

Drop onto ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 375* for 9-10 minutes (until edges and tops are slightly brown).

**Remember your cookies will continue cooking a little after they come out of the oven so you don't want to over cook them.

This morning there was no food in the world that could appeal to me. Now that I'm feeling better, those do look really good. Who doesn't love peanut butter and chocolate?
