A couple nights ago my husband was out of town so instead of going to bed at a reasonable time I ended up watching Extreme Couponing for 2 1/2 hours and let me tell you I am intrigued! Is it really possible to buy $500 worth of groceries and only pay $20 for it?
I've used coupons here and there and I remember my Mom having a coupon folder when I was little, but this whole extreme couponing thing is taking it to a whole different level.
At first I was thinking "OK, I'm totally going to do this." Until I started hearing them say that they spend 30+ hours a week on clipping and organizing coupons and strategically planning their shopping trips. That is a bit excessive for me. I would like to learn a little bit more about using coupons to really save some money though.
So I'm wondering. What do you all know about coupons? Me, I know nothing. Like when a coupon says fifty cents off when you buy two....(fill in the blank) does that mean you get fifty cents off each of those two items, or is it twenty five cents off of each making a combined savings of fifty cents? And if the best coupons come in the Sunday newspaper but you have to pay to get those coupons, is it really worth it? And please tell me how you can end up getting a tube of toothpaste for free.
Really, I want to know!
