Do You Have a Laundry Spot?

This is mine. Right on the couch.

This is where I dump it and walk away, really truly believing that I will be right back to fold it and put it all away. Ha! Never happens. I will tell you what does happen.

Tuesday and Friday are my laundry days, with the exception of Monday which is when I wash sheets, so on Tuesday I spend all day doing load after load of laundry and then by the end of the day I'm too tired to do anything about it so I just leave it there thinking I will get to it on Wednesday. Wednesday comes and goes and the only thing that happens to the pile is that a few articles of clothing are dug out to wear. The kids are usually searching for a pair of socks. Thursday is pretty much the same only half of the pile is usually on the floor by then or we've moved it completely to one end of the couch so we can actually sit down. And really, by Thursday night what is the point of folding it when I will just be adding to it the next day. Finally, by Friday I am so disgusted that it is still there that after I've washed several more loads I start folding. Sometimes I get it all folded and sometimes it doesn't get finished until Saturday. And sometimes on Saturday night when Josh and I sit down to watch a movie he reaches over and starts folding it, which is when I know it has been there waaay too long, and he has lost all hope that one day when he comes home from work it will be magically gone.

Tomorrow is Tuesday. I'm going to give it my best shot. Although, my kids also have no school tomorrow, which means a lot more of my time is going to be spent watching plays put on by Samm, helping find this and that, and refereeing. Still, anything is possible!

This is not a problem for me (I have many others. For example I HATE cleaning bathrooms and procrastinate) But let me share why I love doing laundry and perhaps it might make it easier if you can think in those terms. I love laundry because you can put it in the machine and go do anything else, including take a nap and still be getting your work done. Excellent! I call that lazy work. Suits me perfectly. And my motivation to fold every load as it comes out of the dryer is that I detest ironing. If you fold it right out of the dryer you can avoid all sorts of wrinkles. That makes me happy. And the last thing is that I find the feel of warm clothes very soothing. It is comforting to me to feel the heat as I stack things in my lap. but I can't feel the comfort if the clothes are cold so I gotta fold them right away. then they go into the basket and when all the loads are done the kids can take their own basket to their rooms. What happens to the clothes after they return to the bedroom is a whole different thing as my kids rooms usually ended up looking kinda like your couch but at least it wasn't in my public viewing area. :) Good luck!

Cursed laundry! Give me toilet scrubbing and mopping floors over laundry anyday. I make myself fold my laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer so that I don't end up with a pile of clean but wrinkly clothes. That frustrates me and then I want to just rewash it so I have learned that I have to fold it and put it away immediately. BUT my issue is that since I hate to fold it I instead just leave it in a dirty pile in the laundry room because if I wash it then I know I will have to fold it. Ugh! So I guess your clean pile of clothes is better than my dirty clothes that no one can pick from and wear. Oh and good for Josh for reaching over and silently starting to help fold.

My laundry spot is also the couch! Must be because that is where moms was/is too! It's funny how we all have our different things...I do the laundry and throw it on the couch and usually fold it within the day, HOWEVER it always sits in the basket waiting to be put away for forever! I don't know why. I just always procrastinate putting it away.
